    A message from Prince Harry

Prince Harry has encouraged more schools to sign up for the School Games in an exclusive video message.

The Prince was appointed President of the Olympic-style competition following the first national event at the Olympic Park in May.

He said he was "absolutely delighted" to take up the role and that he believed sport was very beneficial to young people.

"I hope that young people all over the UK will feel inspired to follow in the footsteps of our Olympic heroes and get involved in sport," Prince Harry says in the video.

"And, to every student out there who may not think sport is for them, I would simply say there's no better time to have a go - try something different and start a sporting habit to last a lifetime."

Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt said: "To have Prince Harry as President of the new School Games competition is a real coup. He is an inspirational young man with a real passion for sport. I hope his message inspires all youngsters, parents and teachers that sport is something for them."

The Youth Sport Trust has been commissioned by Sport England to deliver the School Games.
