WINNERS! Y3/4 Sportshall Athletics @ Robert Sutton – 10th December 2018

After the Y5/6 children winning their competition, EH entered the Y3/4 Sportshall Athletics competition in high spirits. Two teams of 12 children from Y3/4 looked forward to trying something new and for some of them, experiencing competitive sport for the first time.

Both teams competed in a number of different track and field events throughout the evening (various running races; obstacle relays; a chest push; a soft javelin throw; speed bounce; standing long jump; 5 strides and the vertical jump) - with the children competing in no more than 2 of each from both track and field.

As the boys and girls competed separately with their scores being added together at the end of the night the children were unaware how their performances would compare to those from other schools. This spurred the children on to show excellent displays of athleticism across a range of events and portray high levels of determination and most importantly enjoyment throughout. Team 2 finished a very respectable 6th out of 12 other teams achieving 244 points. Whilst Team 1 finished with a total of 344 points, finishing above Anglesey who finished 2nd with 326 points to take home the gold.

It was fantastic to see so many new faces wearing the school kit and representing the school which hopefully leads to them competing again very soon. A massive congratulations to both teams:

Team 1 - Sophie, Maisie, Indie, Alexi F, Jada, Mille H, Ibrahim, Olly, Jamie, Harry S, Harry J and Max S.

Team 2 - Mya, Hollie, Sienna, Katie, Millie M, Ruby, Alexi, Elijah, Riley, Caiden, Finley, Owen and Blake.
