Y3/4 Football

Y3/4 Football @ Pennine Way - Tuesday 6th November 2018 This afternoon, our Y3/4 football team travelled to Pennine Way in Swadlincote for their second football fixture of the year. There were 3 other teams present: Pennine Way A, Pennine Way B and a school from Derby - OVS. In the first game EH played against Pennine Way B and managed to win 2-0 with a left-footed rocket from Olly Fairhurst and a goal line tap in from Caiden after some great work down the line by Ollie Goodfellow. In their second game, the boys faced OVS, who are a team from Derby. A much closer game finished with a 2-1 win to EH after 2 more great goals from Olly F who did not put a foot wrong during the game. Throughout the game, Elijah and Harry showed some brilliant defending and looked solid until one slip which allowed OVS to score a consolation goal. In their final game, EH played against Pennine Way A who proved to be their toughest opponent of the afternoon. EH started how they had played both of their first games - on the front foot. This quickly resulted in them going 1-0 up with yet another goal from Olly F after some superb pressing down on the opposition’s defence. Pennine Way A were back level after a great run from their number 12 who weaved in and out of the EH team to make it 1-1. The final 6 minutes proved to be a ‘typical cup final game’ as it was end to end with chances for both teams. EH definitely had more chances with great efforts from Olly, Ollie and Caiden. However, the OVS goalkeeper made some excellent saves and kept his team in the game. A brilliant first meeting between the three schools and a massive congratulations to EH: Louis-Eric, Charlie, Harry, Elijah, Caiden, Zack, Olly and Ollie.
