Y3/4 & Y5/6 Tag Rugby Tournament @ Robert Sutton - 3rd April 2019

Mr Carvell, 4 Apr 2019

Two teams from Y3/4 and two teams from Y5/6 entered the first of two tag rugby competitions taking place before Easter. The winners of today's Y5/6 competition will go on to represent East Staffs in a county competition next term.

Y3/4 & Y5/6 Tag Rugby Tournament @ Robert Sutton - 3rd April 2019

In the Y5/6 competition Edge Hill A played 3 other teams in their group, winning all of their matches!

Anglesey 1-5 Edge Hill A (Zack x2, Kian, Cole, Max T)

Shobnall 1-4 Edge Hill A (Kian, Max T, Jack, Zack)

Kingfisher 2-9 Edge Hill A (Max T x2, Mia, Cole x3, Zack, Jack, Fearne)

The team won a place in the final against William Shrewsbury, the winners of the other group. It was a ding-dong match which ended as a 4-4 draw. Both teams will go forward to represent East Staffs in the county competition. Well done to both teams!

Also in the Y5/6 competition, Edge Hill B played really well and scored plenty of tries. Unfortunately, they had several tries disallowed as they got to grips with the rules of the game, but they played with plenty of passion and individual skill!

William Shrewsbury 6-2 Edge Hill B (Charlie C, Charlie F)

Rykneld 4-2 Edge Hill B (Charlie F x2)

Victoria 3-7 Edge Hill B (Charlie F x2, Millie, Charlie C x4)

In the Y3/4 competition, Edge Hill A played 3 other teams in their group: winning 1 and losing 2. They were very unlucky in their second game as it was end to end rugby with both teams scoring a try through most of their chances. In their last game, the team had found their bearings and began to understand the game and produced some good passing phases.

Edge Hill A 0 - 4 Picknalls

Edge Hill A 3 - 4 Holy Rosary (Katie, Olly and Hollie)

Edge Hill A 5 - 3 William Shrewsbury (Jamie x2, Olly x2 and Millie)

In the other group in the Y3/4 competition, Edge Hill B played against 2 other teams as one dropped out: winning and losing. In their first game, they lost 1-0 to Richard Clarke as the team were still not 100% on the rules and how to play. This changes in their second game as they won 5-2 with some storming runs from Riley D and Sophie.

Edge Hill B 0 -1 Richard Clarke

Edge Hill B 5 - 2 Kingfisher (Fynn, Sophie and Riuley x3)

Edge Hill B advanced to the semi-finals to face the winners from the other group who were a very organised team. They lost the game but played very well and managed to score a few tries (Riley and Maisie).

Congratulations to all 4 of our teams who represented the school tonight!
