Running fever at Eldon and fantastic fundamentals

January is a month in which many adults endeavour to be active everyday (RED January) this mood across the nation has inspired some super sportiness here at Eldon, both amongst staff and children. Our UCLAN student Mr Ahmed has been truly amazed and inspired by the participation levels at lunchtime.  This has included one marvellous Year 6 who has been leading younger pupils to run around the Heartline every lunchtime, covering over a mile each day. 

Our afterschool clubs have been packed with children working towards their own personal bests such as the Year 4 children attending Gymnastics club who have all managed to vault into a 'Squat on'  onto the box. 

Staff are setting the example too with Mrs Ireton, Mrs Sandland, Mrs Stevens, Miss Lightfoot, Mrs Perry, Miss Pearson, Mrs Richmond and Mr Foxwell all running in their own time.  When the School Sports Crew met last week there was much speculation about which class would cover the most miles if staff were included too!

Intra and Interschool competitions have also been high on the agenda with Mr Moss's football competitions at breaktimes and several teams attending or preparing to attend competitions during this Spring term.
