Flora Gardens opening fixture of the season in the Mayor's cup 2017-18.

‘Amin the star’ as Flora Gardens defeat Addison primary in season opener.

Flora Gardens Primary School started their season with a fantastic 1-0 victory over Addison Primary School in a pulsating end-to-end fixture which had fans and parents on their feet at Ravenscourt Park last Friday.

The first half set the tone for the rest of the match, both sides with contrasting tactics. Addison played with two strikers up front which meant they lacked a player in the middle of the pitch. Luckily Flora took advantage and was very comfortable in the midfield as centre midfielders Amin and Ignacio passed the ball with great ease.

Addison had their first real test on goal but Irfan looked as comfortable as a pillow as Addison missed their chance on goal.

8 minutes had flown by when Amin superbly picked the ball up 15 yards from goal. With plenty of work still to do, the classy midfielder took a touch, looked up and very coolly slotted the ball into the corner past the opposition goalkeeper’s despairing dive.

The second half saw Addison come flying out of the blocks, playing with a much improved and higher intensity. Due to the tireless efforts of Lucas and Hamza, Addison could not find the space to deliver many balls into the box.

Flora held onto the narrow one goal advantage and were delighted to hear the referee’s whistle to signal full time. Plenty of credit must go to the whole team who worked of the ball tirelessly all game.

Man of the match went to Joel Bovell, who showed great maturity at centre back.
