Year 3/4 Football Festival
We hosted our first ever Football Festival at Droylsden Juniors
On Thursday 22nd April it was an exciting day as Greenside hosted our first football festival at our good friends Droylsden juniors.
We were excited to welcome 6 other schools to play games against our school and each other, with St John Fisher, Moorside, Greswell, Poplar Street, St Georges and Manchester Road coming along.
We were also very lukcy to have the games refereed by 4 of our year 6 leaders, EJ,HHW, KE and IM, who did a fantastic job officating all the matches and were praised highly by teachers from the other schools and the head of the Tameside School’s FA Donal who came along to support and was very impressed by the way the festival was run and played.
So to the football, and there was lots of fantastic games played by both our year 3 and 4 teams.
The year 3’s started with a game against Poplar Street and produced an excellent performance to win with fantastic goalkeeping from CB and defense from KK with some superb attacking from Ben and DCL.
The year 3’s carried on their success in another excellent game against Manchester Road were they looked like they were going to slip to a defeat in a very high quality game until with just seconds to go we scored a last minute equaliser to draw 1-1.
In the third game year 3 played brilliantly to defeat St Johns with a superb performances with KK scoring a great goal in a super victory.
The year 4 team took on Moorside in their first game, with their star performer being BR in net who made a string of stunning saves. EM and ASalso showed some super skills and we had chances to score but couldn’t get the ball in the net and Moorside scored a great goal to win the game 1-0.
The year 4 team carried on with a entertaining game against Greswell, with OG playing some superb football and MS and DH playing some great passes. BR again made good saves and the game ended 0-0.
The game against St John Fisher fished the festival for Greenside and despite once again having some fantastic chances and shots we couldn’t score and St John Fisher grabbed a great goal to win the game.
All in all it was a fantastic festival and we were very proud to see all the children playing football in a fantastic atmosphere.
Player of the match was KK for an excellent performance and good goals.
