Yr 5 A Tournament at JAPS

Posted 6th March 2020

Your girls all worked really hard today, this was an A team tournament, and previously at Yr 5 we have only entered B/C tournaments, with an introduction to all girls A fixtures in Yr 6, however whilst our opponents have all played netball at IAPS and similar comps this month, Honeywell's Netballers certainly gave their opponents a run for their money today!

Yr 3 & 4 Netball at Telferscot

Posted 6th March 2020

On Monday afternoon we took a team of year 4’s and a team of year 3’s to Teleferscott Primary school for a friendly match. It was an unusual setting as the match was played in a cage where the sidelines were the cage itself and the posts were actually basketball hoops. However, this didn't phase our netballers at all and they were all looking forward to a fun match.

Yr 6 Battersea Football League vs Ark John Archer

Posted 6th March 2020

The rain was out in force again....but that didn't stop our Y6 footballers take to the pitch in the weekly Battersea Football League.

A convincing win at the Battersea Football League this week on Wednesday....

The Launch of Honeywell’s Sports Leaders Programme

Posted 28th February 2020

16 Year 6 pupils were inducted as Sports Leaders yesterday, attending a short workshop led by Nick Miller (Wandsworth's School Games Organiser). They worked collaboratively to determine the characteristics of a strong Sports Leader, participated in activities designed to be easy to explain, and with opportunities to incorporate additional skills or reduce complexity so that they are inclusive for all.

Yr 4 Girls’ Hockey With Hornsby House

Posted 28th February 2020

All of Honeywell's Year 4 girls who wanted to participate played in a friendly hockey match yesterday at Kennington Park with Hornsby House.  This was an opportunity for our pupils to consolidate their learning from PE lessons in a match situation and we fielded 4 teams, mixing Honeywell players with Hornsby players (girls played for either Honey-House or Hornsby-Well).

CFC Primary Stars Tournament

Posted 24th February 2020

Wet, wet, wet would accurately describe the tournament today...the rain simply didn't stop! But that didn't prevent Honeywell's Football Team taking to the pitch at Chelsea FC's training ground 5 times to play against the qualifying schools from the Southern Region. 6 teams in total, with 5 matches to play to qualify for the finals in Watford later this term.

Telferscot Netball Yr 5’s

Last Friday, our Honeywell netballers had a lovely afternoon playing friendly netball against Telferscot School.

High 5 Netball - Yr 5's Claim Silver in a Yr 6 Comp

Posted 11th February 2020

What a fabulous achievement from our Year 5 netballers on Wednesday!! Chris and I may have failed to tell them it was a Year 6 tournament beforehand, as we had entered them into the B team round ‘for the experience'… and with 20 teams alongside numerous umpires, coaches and Burntwood School helpers there on site, it was quite an experience to be had.

High 5 Netball Yr 6’s Claim Gold in Wandsworth Qualifiers

Posted 11th February 2020

Wandsworth School Games Organiser, Nick Miller, organised another full day of netball (well, the High 5 variation) in the sun at Burntwood yesterday and Honeywell took a Yr 6 and a Yr 5 team to compete. We have been to Burntwood before, and this event is popular, so runs across two days. For 7 consecutive years, Honeywell has fielded a team, and we have certainly improved year on year with focused coaching delivered by our parent volunteers. At last count we have 7 netball coaches delivering weekly netball for pupils in years 3-6.

JAPS Netball Tournament - BRONZE

Posted 11th February 2020

A squad of 10 netballers (different to those who played on Weds this week) took to the courts at JAGS Sports Club to play in the JAGS Spring tournament, you can see from the smiles that they were delighted with the end result (those bronze medals are pretty chunky) - but what impressed me, is that with a team of players who have played different amounts of netball and therefore have different levels of knowledge, they know what they need to do, how to help each other to move down the court, remind players what their role is and where they should be, support each other (we had 3 rotating subs, so there was always a cheerleading squad on the sideline) all to ensure a positive experience for every player !

Bronze for our Girls’ Football Team at Alleyns Tournament

Posted 7th February 2020

A squad of 9 of Honeywell’s footballers headed over to Alleyns to play in their annual girl’s tournament. They were delighted the waterlogged pitches had drained from the day before and were looking forward to testing themselves against some very strong teams in the 7 aside format with 6 minutes each way.

The Beautiful Game

Posted 7th February 2020

......played wonderfully by *all* of our girls in Yr 6 today.  15 Honeywell Netballers from Year 6 were waiting patiently in the playground to be transported to L'ecole du Battersea's Sports Hall yesterday.  Thanks to our parent drivers generously giving up their time, our girls arrived safely and early, giving us time to jump on court, as to be honest, we haven't had our usual training in January, due to other commitments and the weather (I wasn't concerned, but you know, when children don't practice something they can often be a little rusty....)

Sports Hall Athletics - A Really Fun Morning of Indoor Sport !

Posted 7th February 2020

Every year (whilst organising Honeywell's Fixtures Calendar) we consider each event on its merits in terms of: - competitive level (we like a mix from high to low, so that everyone can play),  - opportunity to participate in a variety of sports,  - number of children who can be involved (there's a lot to be said for a smaller group at times, and those fixtures that cater for larger numbers of players) .... and if I'm honest, how much Honeywell's sportspeople and I enjoy the fixture year on year.

Battersea Football League Boys vs The Roche

Posted 7th February 2020

Having lost by 1 goal last week, our boys arrived ready to show The Roche (and Pete, their Coach) how much they wanted to win today….and they tried their hardest to deliver.

Royal Russell Hockey: Yrs 5&6 Boys

Posted 7th February 2020

Hockey’s one of those winter sports that is rarely called off in bad weather, so I for one, was absolutely delighted with the glorious sunshine Royal Russell ordered this afternoon!
