Hurstmere Sports Leaders run Primary Panathlon Event

Primary Panathlon Event

14 Sports Leaders worked with the Panathlon Association to deliver the Bexley School Games Primary Panathlon Challenge this week. The Panathlon Challenge is a national charity which provides sporting opportunities for young people with SEND. During the morning the sports leaders received training from the Panathlon Asssociation in the various sports activities and once the schools arrived they delivered 8 different sports ranging from Indoor Kurling, Boccia to Table Top Cricket.

The event was a great success and proved popular with children and teachers alike, Kieran a pupil from Hook Lane said "it's the best day of my life"  while Mr Pullen from St Thomas More Primary said "Of all the fixtures that I have taken throughout my career, be it in secondary or primary, I can honestly say that today’s was the most enjoyable and rewarding for me as a teacher. The activities served as a platform to showcase how much sport can reach out to all ability levels."

It was not just the event that received praise, Ms Foster, ASD Provision Leader from Hillsgrove Primary School said "the Sports Leaders were great ambassadors of Hurstmere School.  They were polite, supportive and  engaging with the children, and were an asset to the running of the day."
