Cross Country
Our first School Games event for 2017-18!
On Monday 22nd January, we sent a squad of 30 Y5s and Y6s to Bishop Luffa to take part in a School Games Cross Country competition. Despite the heavy rain that had been falling over the weekend, and rain earlier in the day, the children left in high spirits for the walk down there.
Hundreds of supporters stood and cheered as the children participated in their races. We are hugely proud of all of the children who took part, from Florence who run the Y5/6 girls race, to Vincent who was cheered and encouraged to get himself round and over the finish line, despite not being "a runner". For Florence, it was the culmination of hours of training at Tri Club, Park Runs and having that focus and determination to finish first. For Vincent, it was the opportunity to try something new, to be out with his friends, to represent the school and to prove to himself that he could do it.
As ever, the event was well organised, and the children enjoyed both competing and the cheering on of the other runners once their events were over.
