Medals won at ISA Eastern Area cross country competition
There were some standout performances from our pupils at the Eastern qualification round of the ISA national schools cross country competition, with seven of our runners qualifying for the National finals.
Langley Preparatory School at Taverham Hall travelled to Finborough School to compete in this great cross country event, where if the runners finished in the top ten position they would be selected to represent the East in the national finals at Princethorpe College near Rugby, Warwickshire.
The Year 4 girls were the first to run and first home was a Year 3, Evie B-S (23rd) then Sophia B (31) Freya S (37) and Susannah H (59) out of 63 girls running; the team finished 7th out of 9.
In the Year 4 boys, first home was James A (15th), Oliver B (31), Arthur C (37), Seb L (39) Jack B (40) out of 66 competitor; the team came 7th out of 9 schools.
In the year 5+6 girls, Issy M was a brilliant 2nd despite being a year young, she was soon followed home by Emily H (5th), Evie W (10th) Eleanor T (19) Edith D (27) out of 84 runners, with Issy, Emily and Evie being picked for the national finals, and the team finished in 1st place.
In the year 5+6 boys La’Sean S finished 7th to qualify, he was followed by Joel F (18th), Lennon T (36), James M (40), Sam C (58) and Austin (76) out of 102 runners, and the team came a very creditable 5th out of 15 teams.
The Year 7 and 8 boys ran brilliantly as a team, with Joseph G leading the way (3rd), closely followed by Charlie H (5th), Archie W (9), all gaining places at the national finals, then Joseph G-y (15) Harry H (29) and Will M (36) out of 48 runners and they also came away with the team award.
It was a great day with all the children running well and cheering on their team mates. Good luck to the seven pupils who have qualified for the National finals on Saturday 3 March.
