U11s Crowned County Champions

The U11 boys took part in the County Championships – and what an afternoon it turned out to be. At this early stage of the season, the team is still getting use to working with each other, so a whole afternoon of competitive fixtures was so beneficial. The first match against Gresham’s was a story of not taking one’s chances in front of goal, and despite dominating the match it ended in a 0-0 draw. Against Norwich School, the boys showed real character to fight back from 0-1 at half time to eventually win 2-1. The key partnerships that make a team successful started to show with a lovely bit of interplay between Louis M and Bertie C leading to the winning goal. The third game against Beeston was decided by a goal from Archie C and that set up a final game against Town Close. This was by far our toughest game of the afternoon and our best performance. Both sides had their chances in front of goal, but neither could find the decisive breakthrough and it ended 0-0. The result meant that the U11s finished with two wins and two draws which put them a point in front of Town Close and crowned them County Champions. All of the boys were a credit to the School. They were understanding of the changes that were made and took their opportunities when given them. Mr Ed Wood looks forward to preparing them for the ISA finals at Lee Valley before half term.
