A fantastic team performance from our U11 girls at the County Finals.

U11 Crowned County Champions

The U11 girls arrived at Gresham’s for the County Finals, having qualified for the National IAPS finals before half term. They played the host team first and took a little while to get into the game. The midfield of Grace and Evie combined well to set up Millie who had a shot well saved. The girls then had 5 short corners in a row; the last one hit the post after a great strike from Grace and the game ended 0-0.

Town close were our next opponents and a short defensive display again from Lois and Beau at the back and Issy in goal kept the opposition at bay. Despite having a number of chances, we couldn’t quite find the net and the game ended 0-0 again. The girls knew that they needed to raise their game, and our next opponents, Norwich High School for Girls, felt the full force of our attacking play. The girls played very well moving the ball around at speed and scored 4 quick goals; Grace even manged to hit the cross bar with a fantastic shot.

Beeston were next and we needed to win to stand a chance of securing the title. The girls didn’t disappoint, producing their best performance of the day. The best move included Lois, Rachel, Evie, Millie and then Grace scoring a fantastic goal from some free-flowing hockey. The game ended 2-0 to us.

The last game was against Norwich School and we knew we had to win and wait on the Town Close vs Beeston result. We did our part winning 3-1, with Grace scoring three short corners that were well created by her teammates. Beeston and Town Close drew, leaving LPS@TH county champions!

This is the first time that a girls team at the School have won a county title and is a brilliant result in what has been a fantastic season for the girls. They will represent Norfolk at the East Region Finals next week and onto the IAPS National Finals the week after.

This was a very complete team performance as the girls only conceded one goal and scored 9 in their 5 games, with all the girls contributing to the results. Very well done to all.

Team: Issy M, Lois C, Beau K, Grace HK, Evie W , Rachel H, Millie P, Suzannah H.
