U12 Finborough Plate winners

Our U12 boys had a great morning of rugby at Gt Finborough School Rugby Festival. The group stage was always going to be tough considering the competition, but this didn’t phase the boys as they started with a 20-5 win against St Joseph’s College. The next game against St Faiths was very competitive and the boys narrowly went down 5-10. Although disappointed, the team rallied and they won their next game 20-0. The final of the pool games was very tough and after having played four games in a row the boys were exhausted by the end as they went down 5-15 to Bedford.

Having finished 3rd in the pool the U12s went into the Plate competition and they started with a good win against RHS. In the second of the Plate games the boys started well and were 5-0 up at half time. New Hall battled back very quickly with 2 tries that set up a frantic few minutes of play, but unfortunately the game ended 10-15 to New Hall. With all of the teams ending on 4 points, it then all came down to tries and this meant our boys won the Plate by 1 try.

This was a fair result for their endeavors and Mr Ed Wood would like to thank all of the boys for their determination and hard work.

There was a fun end to the Gt Finborough School Rugby Festival. All the boys were invited to run the length of the rugby pitch for the prize of England Rugby Captain, Dylan Hartley’s baseball cap, which was won by our very own player La’Sean!
