Y5 Netball Festival

Mr Gayles, 7 Apr 2022

Some of our Y5 girls were given the opportunity to learn some new skills and make some new friends at the Middlesbrough SGO Netball Festival.

Y5 Netball Festival

On Tuesday 5th April, 12 of our Y5 girls were selected to represent Linthorpe in the Middlesbrough School Games Netball Festival. This event was held at Acklam Grange School, who are our partner school in The Legacy Learning Trust.

The festival was a huge success for all schools involved, with lots of smiles on faces all round. It was lovely seeing the girls being mixed into different groups and making new friends from the other schools. The non competitive element offered the opportunity for the girls to go and have fun, learning new skills in a pressure free environment.

From the start to the end of the day, the girls were busy throughout. The festival was really well organised and ran by Middlesbrough SGO. Coaches from Grangetown Netball Club, who are one of the best clubs in the North East, came to deliver some expert coaching to the girls. The Sports Leaders from Acklam Grange School, who come to Linthorpe to deliver PE lessons on a Friday afternoon were also involved and really stepped up to the mark.

The girls learnt a lot of new skills through the coaching they received and then the games they participated in later in the day. All of the girls from Linthorpe displayed immaculate behaviour and attitude, with a special well done going to the two Linthorpe children who were awarded medals for their efforts by the Acklam Grange Leaders!
