KS1 Football club

Year 6 boys take on KS1 Football club at lunchtimes.

Jamie and Charlie B are in year 6 and both have a love for football. On a Monday and Thursday lunch time you will see these two working with year 1 and year 2 children teaching them football skills. They have about 10-12 children at each session who regularly attend their sessions.

Jamie told me that quite often they don’t get out of class on time and he rushes to have his lunch so he can deliver these football sessions. Charlie told me that sometimes they do have to deal with some children not doing what is asked of them and when this happens Charlie takes control by asking the child to sit out.

Charlie and Jamie told me that each session starts with some skills training – passing the ball, kicking the ball and running with the ball. They will then have a mini match to finish the session off.

Both boys give up their lunch times twice a week to deliver these sessions and they are sharing their love of football with our KS1 children.
