Girls Cricketers enjoy more success

Tom Carmichael, 14 Feb 2019

Both the Under 15 and Under 13 Girls cricketers came out on top in their retrospective Middlesbrough Schools indoor cricket competitions over the past fortnight - booking their places at the Northern finals.

After a successful first outing at Eston Sports Centre the U13 girls reached the semi - final. But with time ticking last Wednesday the decision was made to move the final two games of the competition to Macmillan seven days later. After disptching a host of Middlesbrough based schools first time around, the Macmillan girls had home advantage for thier key semi - final against Yarm School's A team. With the vistors only managing 84 in batting Macmillan were all out at 110 for 6, setting up a final meeting against Acklam Grange. This match was seemingly much closer and a stunning late rally saw Mrs King and Mrs Weighells' team win by two wickets after coming from 6 down with only a few balls left to be bowled.

As for the U15 team, thier route to the Northern finals was much more simplistic. A one day tournment saw them overcome The Unity City Academy and two teams, again from Yarm School  thier A and B sides. This success saw both teams through to the next round, help in Leeds. With the U13 final on the 1st of Febuary and the U15 event being ehlp a week later on the 8th. As always thier progress can be trakced on this blog.
