Play Leaders

Meet our fantastic play leaders!

Play Leaders

We are lucky enough to have 41 amazing Play Leaders from years 5 and 6. Our Sports Ambassadors helped select children who they thought would be good in supporting other children in the school at play times.

The aim of our play leaders is to introduce and develop leadership skills with the children in years 5 and 6 by working with them and introducing them to new games and activities. Earlier in the academic year, our sports ambassadors created a wish-list of equipment that they believed would make play times more active and enjoyable for all children. Their wishes became reality at the very end of the autumn term when boxes and boxes of play equipment arrived in school. A bit of sorting later, we now have two exciting play leader trolleys! Our play leaders are supported by a team of fantastic mid-day assistants who are as equally enthusiastic and excited by all of the new equipment available.

All of this equipment combined with the enthusiasm of our play leaders aims to increase the amount of physical activity that happens during play times, reduce the amount of incidents and support children who struggle socially. A positive side effect of this is that it will boost the confidence of our play leaders, in addition to their organisational, leadership and communication skills.

We are all looking forward to watching the play leaders grow in confidence and seeing our play times become more active!
