Northbury Girls lose first game of the season to Borough Champs Henry Green!

Northbury Girls football team fall to defeat at the hands of Henry Green Primary losing 2-1 in their final group game.

After a very close and fiery encounter between the two schools, Henry Green ran out 2-1 winners after 2 goals from district sensation Miquellah. 

Northbury started very slow giving Miquellah an opportunity to cut in from the left and shoot on her right foot giving Hannah in the Northbury goal no chance to stop it. However, Northbury hit back almost instantly with Henry Green failing to clear this let Lily-Mae in to score crucially into the top corner to level the score. Some poor defending again from Northbury meant that Miquellah was again allowed inside to shoot and scored a pretty much replica of her first. Henry Green again came close with an effort from Miquellah striking the crossbar. 

Lily-Mae went running through on goal at the end of the first half only to be denied by the half-time whistle. 

Northbury made 4 changes at half-time taking off four Year 5 girls and replacing them with four Year 6 girls. Korede, Kelese, Ehinomhen and Klarisa replaced by Olivia, Shannon, Jazyln and Rosalie. 

Henry Green again dominated the second half but Northbury showed great character and resilience to stay in the game. Henry Green hit the post and had a goal bound free kick blocked by Leighana with Northbury creating very few chances in the second half. A more physical challenge for the champions in the second half with some strong defending and tackles from Northbury. The game finished 2-1 with Henry Green topping the group.

A closely contested game which sent a real message out to the Borough Champions who will face Northbury again at some stage of the Super Six with Northbury qualifying with 3 wins out of 4!!
