House Panathlon "Sportshall" Athletics Competition

Congratulations Beddoes on achieving 1st place in our House Panathlon ‘Sportshall’ athletics competition.

Just in time for the Christmas break, we finished our House Panathlon ‘Sportshall’ athletics competition that has been taking part both at lunchtimes and in one-off PE lessons in KS2 with the help of our sports apprentices, Miss. Morris and Mr. Leask.  All children able to take part in KS2 have competed in 5 events: standing long jump; vertical jump; chest push; speedbounce and the 10 by 10m shuttle relay.  Despite its name, the event has taken place outside, weather permitting due to the current guidelines recommending being outside to undertake physical activity where possible.  It has been great to be able to offer this     inter-house competition, extending our offer to all children in KS2 whilst ensuring that it is carried out in a safe manner.    

Once again, the competition has proven to be a very close affair; a mean average has been found from the total score in each band of y3/4 and y5/6, giving us y3/4 and y5/6 champions below.  When added together, you will see how close it was.  Despite Beddoes maintaining their sporting dominance on this occasion, that gap is closing, meaning we are likely to see a new era of winners in the next year or so!  Well done to all children involved.  

After Christmas, we shall be holding house netball with a difference as well as house boccia and archery!  Something to look forward to in the new year.
