Year 2 Boys' Football Success

Read this report which shows you what a fantastic day eight Year 2 Boys had at Goals, New Malden.

Thursday 20th September 2018, eight very excited boys from Year 2 went to Goals in New Malden to take part in a fun-filled football festival. The festival consists of 24 local primary schools and is the biggest KS1 inter-school sports event in the autumn Calendar. Sporting our fantastic Premier League football kits, the team arrived at the venue with energy and enthusiasm.

After gathering with all the teams to go through the key rules and expectations on the main pitch, it was time for the talk to stop and the football to start. In total the team played 8 matches. In between each match the boys did some more football drills, changed the team set-up and also changed the goal keeper round to ensure all team members received the same amount of game time

The O.L.I team performed to a fantastic level winning six matches, drawing one (1-1) and only losing one very close encounter (0-1).  All the boys worked well as a team and were encouraging each other which was very pleasing to see. 

The team members had a brilliant time which can be seen in what they had to say about the event: 

· Luca: ‘It was really nice to be chosen.’

· Miles: ‘It was a brilliant day at the football.’ 

· Szymon: ‘We won lots of matches- it was great!’

· Casey: ‘At the football we practised, persevered and made progress.’

· Maku: ‘We took part in each match- I had lots of fun.’

· Bruno: ‘The matches were great and we all mixed together.’

· Joshua: ‘I scored lots of goals for O.L.I.’

· Oisin: ‘I had a lot of fun playing against the other schools.’

Congratulations to all team members for their terrific performances. Many thanks to Miss O’Mara for leading the team on the day and providing such great managerial support. Also, thanks are much deserved to the parents and carers who provided transport to the venue and for those who supported the team during the afternoon.
