Year 6 Boys' Quarter-Final

O.L.I hosted Tolworth in a District Cup Quarter-Final clash.

On Wednesday 23rd January 2019, our Year 6 Boys had a Quarter-Final cup clash against Tolworth Juniors. Following a successful run in the inaugural District Cup competition, O.L.I played host to a Tolworth team that were fresh from winning the Kingston Borough Finals in December.

The boys were excited to get the match underway and started well by making several key clearances to keep the visitors at bay. In addition, the team passed the ball well and were comfortable in possession. However, midway during the first-half Tolworth scored a number of impressive goals to take an early 5-0 lead. 

However, following a team talk at half-time, the boys came out with renewed hope and vigour. This resulted in some excellent goals for the home team. O.L.I managed to score five goals in the second-half. Despite this excellent second-half display, Tolworth also scored some goals to win the tie. We wish them luck at the semi-final stage. I would like to congratulate the ten boys who took part. I was really impressed with the team spirit and enthusiasm that was displayed during the entire match.

I would like to extend my thanks to the parents and carers who supported the team at this fixture. Additionally, I would like to congratulate all of the Year 6 boys who have represented our school in football this academic term. Despite the boys’ cup run being over, there will be more fixtures taking place over the coming months.
