Year 6 Girls' Football Finals

On Wednesday 6th December 2017, O.L.I participated in the prestigious Year 6 Girls’ Kingston Borough Finals at CCC. This was an event that the Year 6 team qualified for due to their fantastic team performance back in October. The O.L.I girls were ready to take on the best primary school teams that Kingston had to offer.

O.L.I started off their afternoon in fine style with a convincing victory over Kings Oak by a score line of three goals to nil. In the remaining matches against teams including: Grand Avenue and Christ Church, O.L.I found scoring goals harder to come by. Despite this, the girls continued to play with passion and always worked together as a team.

It was a fantastic experience for the girls to participate in. At the end of the competition, the O.L.I girls shared a team photo with two current Chelsea Ladies’ squad members: Jade Bailey and Deanna Cooper (see the above photo). Congratulations to Latchmere who were crowned as winners of this very competitive 2017 Borough finals. O.L.I finished in 7th place and should be very proud of their efforts considering that this is out of all the primary schools in the Borough.

It has been a pleasure to coach the girls this autumn term. The effort and enthusiasm that they have shown, in training sessions and in competitions, has been amazing to witness. Many congratulations to the girls, including injured Annie, for their performances this term.

Finally, I would like to extend my thanks for the parents and carers who provided transport for their child and for their support at the event. This as always, is very much appreciated.
