O.LI's Year 6 Sport Captains have been appointed for 2017-2018. Read below for details about the role the Sport Captains will perform in improving the sporting participation and provision at our school.
Following an in-depth review of written applications, nine Year 6 pupils (see photograph) have been chosen to represent O.L.I as Sport Captains. This role will provide a pupil voice to the PE and Sport provision that we provide. The Sport Captains will work alongside me (Mr Keady) in range of ways such as: organising intra-house sports competitions; writing blogs for the school newsletter/school games website and assisting in the running of the golden daily mile.
The Year 6 Sport Captains have made an enthusiastic start to their role; read below for quotes based on their sporting interests and ideas:
Caitlin L: ‘One of my favourite sports is running. I’ve already competed in a few running events for O.L.I.’
Simon: ‘My name is Simon and I love to play football. My aim is to make everyone at school do more sport.’
Isabella: ‘I really like playing football and basketball and I know that I will think of new things to make the school even better.’
David: ‘After achieving both Managers’ player of the year and Parents’ player of the year, I‘ve grown to love sports.’
Bertie: ‘Hi my name is Bertie, I like playing football and I would love to help with school sport.’
Amandia:’ I represented O.L.I in a Borough cricket tournament and I really enjoyed it. I am looking forward to help other pupils enjoy sports like I do.’
Charlotte: ‘I enjoy running the Surbiton Parkrun most Sundays. I like to meet new people at this event.’
Freddie: ‘I have represented O.L.I in many sports and my favourite moment was when we got through to the London Youth Games in basketball.’
Joshua G: ‘One main achievement is when I went to a tennis tournament with O.L.I and we came second out of six schools. The best part was playing and having fun.’
