On 14th November 2017, 13 Year 6 pupils attended the Primary Mini Basketball Competition at Kennet School, Thatcham.

6 Schools were competing and each school had two teams. 3 players were allowed on court at any one time.  Every player had the opportunity to play in each game.   Each game was 15 minutes long with no breaks.

The games were fast-paced, energetic with many baskets scored in every match.  Everybody played well and gave their best effort against some stiff opposition.

After the first two matches, some of the Kennet School students gave a coaching session.  During this session we learnt how to do a lay-up.  This helped us in our future matches.

One of our teams (Pangbourne Pirates), competed in the 3rd/4th place playoff match cheered on by our other team (Pangbourne Pythons).  We were very excited to have earnt 3rd place overall.

We all had a great time and returned to school having improved our basketball skills and given our all in the tournament.

Some quotes from the players:

"I came home as an improved player." - Maya

"Great fun with huge inspiration." - Freddie

"I enjoyed myself and returned happy but exhausted." - Dillon
