Parish Primary sporting news

Autumn was such a busy term for sports and competitions at Parish!

Year 1 were off to a great start at the Everton Football Festival where a very talented footballer was not only recognised during the match for his sporting achievements, but also invited along to Everton to train and develop his football skills further.  Well done year 1!

The football theme continued  throughout the term with girls from years 3 and 4 competing at football competitions followed by the girld from years 5 and 6.  The girls thoroughly enjoyed the competitions and put in an incredible amount of effort which included one of our teams achieving the fair play award.

Next came another football festival which was attended by year 3 and gave children the opportunity to put their skills and training to the test.  Well done year 3!

Meanwhile up in year 6, children had been preparing for one of the most anticipated competitions of the whole school calander... sportshall athletics! This was an amazing and adrenaline fuelled afternoon. There was a mixture of track and field events in which the children needed to peresvere and compete to the best of their abilities.  This resulted in the children being awarded the fair play award! #parishpride

The excitement didn't stop there, children from key stage 1 and key stage 2 travelled across the borought to take part in new age kurling and boccia tournaments.

Our achievements didn't stop there!

Finally year 6 children attended a cricket tournament where they returned with bronze medals. Fantasic news year 6!

Meanwhile in schol children were enjoying a range of luchtime and afterschool clubs including athetics, tag rugby, footbal and Jolly Olly sports.  We also had specialist coaches from St Helens Gymnastics and Lancashire Cricket Club.  Children have enjoyed coming into school for change for life clubs with their grown-ups and participating in them during lunch time with our sports specialists from Edge Hill University.

One of the highlights of the term was certainly a visit from St Helens RLFC players where they went around school meeting children and they even got time to join the children on the playground at lunchtime to share how to keep active and healthy!
