Race for life

Mrs Paton, 17 Jun 2018

On Wednesday we took 30 children from year 2 to take part in the race for life event that was organised by our SGO Michala.

Race for life

Last week we took 30 children from year 2 to take part in the race for life event at Sherwood Pines. This was a joint SGO event with Bassetlaw and Newark . It was a fabulous day and our children loved every minute of it. They were so excited on the way there and never stopped talking and giggling all day. Even throughout the 2 mile run they chatted and laughed together.

So when we arrived there was a mass warm up which lasted nearly 20 minutes, then each school was asked to come to the starting line. Our children shot off at the start but after a few minotes of running flat out they started to get tired and slow the pace down. This was good for me as it meant I could actually keep up with them.

After 2 miles most of them were very happy indeed to see Mrs Padley at the finishing  line. As they crossed they were given a medal 🥇 and all thoughts and feelings about being tired, hurting and hungry were soon forgotten.  Within minutes they were all bursting with energy again.

We moved camp to the picnic area and everyone devoured their lunch. Time for a quick play and then back on the minibus 🚐 and back to school.

Thank you 🙏 Michala for organising such a fantastic event, we ,over it X
