Judo

Emily and Luca (Y6 Sports Crew), 26 Nov 2019

Destination Judo visited St. Clare's on 7th November to give all of our children from Reception to Year 6 an opportunity to try this Olympic sport.

Judo

In out first week of the new half term, we took part in a judo session. During our session we tried to take the unicorn tail from our partner whilst they tried to prevent us from 'stealing' it! It was a real test of our defending skills as we had to dodge and dive demonstrating dynamic footwork in order to achieve success. After that we tried to pin each other down for 10 seconds,  one arm had to go under our partner's head, the other had to go in between their legs to lift up their knee. It really made us giggle being sooo close to our partner! Unfortunately, our lesson had to come to an end as we had so much fun learning these new judo skills. Overall our star of the day was Brody because he was putting all his effort into everything.

St Clare's is a small primary school in Acklam, Middlesbrough. We have a newly appointed sports crew this year who are eager to get going to make a real difference in our school. As a school we are very passionate about PE love taking part in School Games competitions against other schools in the area. We also enjoy participating in our own intra-house team events against our other class members. This year we are going for Gold again!
