Y5/6 Sportshall Athletics Competition

Alfie and Jacob (Y6 Sports Crew), 22 Jan 2020

Year 5 and 6 performed brilliantly at the Sportshall Athletics Competition and brought home the Gold medals after finishing in first place!

As soon as we arrived into school in the morning excitement was bubbling inside us as we were more than ready to beat the other schools. The team gathered together alongside Mrs Manders and Mrs Beamson and walked out to the waiting bus. As we stepped on we all quickly got into our seats full of confidence. On arriving at Eston Sports Centre we were overwhelmed with anticipation, the hall looked humongous (especially compared to our school hall!) and some of the other teams were already warming up over the obstacles and we couldn't wait to get started. We particularly liked the look of the reversaboards against the wall and were desperate to have a go ourselves.

The first race, the girl's obstacle, got us off to a winning start. The boys followed on and also beat the other teams in their race. In the hurdles, both the boys and girls finished a close second but we got back to winning ways in the 1 lap relay and the 6 Lap Paarlauf.

St Clare's RC Primary School

St Clare's is a small primary school in Acklam, Middlesbrough. We have a newly appointed sports crew this year who are eager to get going to make a real difference in our school. As a school we are very passionate about PE love taking part in School Games competitions against other schools in the area. We also enjoy participating in our own intra-house team events against our other class members. This year we are going for Gold again!
