After a rigorous assessment process, the school has achieved the prestigious School Games Kitemark award at the highest level: GOLD. This national kitemark  recognises  high quality PE and School sport and at least two hours of curriculum time devoted to PE(Greneway has three hours!).

New North East Herts School Games Organiser and Kitemark Assessor, Jo Prior said

“It has been an enjoyable experience working with, and alongside, the school and this award is thoroughly deserved showing consistency of high quality teaching and sporting excellence over an extended period. The school is now trying to achieve the brand new Platinum level.”

Assistant Headteacher and Head of PE, Terry Graves was ecstatic with the award and reinforced the outstanding teamwork at Greneway that has led to such consistent honours. He added,

“It has never been more important for our young people to access, participate in, and commit to, high quality physical education and school sport and extend this into lifelong, healthy experiences. We are delighted to have our PE and school sport programme recognised at this level for the fifth consecutive time putting us in the top 1% in the country.”

Greneway Headteacher, Laura Rawlings responded to the exciting news by saying

“This award is national recognition of excellent teamwork and our continued commitment to high quality PE and School Sport at Greneway. Learning in, and through, the physical is crucial to the development of all young people and to be awarded Gold for the fifth time emphasises our consistency of purpose in developing the whole child.”

Finally, Rob Dowler (Greneway PE and SSCo) who played a crucial role in the assessment process, was keen to add that

“A ‘Quintet’’ of golds! This award once again recognises and celebrates Greneway’s continuing sporting legacy and has again involved every child at Greneway in 2016/2017.

– an ever growing and successful TEAM.”
