Cross Country at WHS

See how we got on at this years cluster cross country event.

Cross Country at WHS

On one of our favourite events to start the year with, pupils from Thurcroft Junior Academy were excited to take part in this years cross country event.

With the weather looking good for a change, it was ideal running conditions. In order to prepare pupils if they qualified (finished inside the top 10) this year, Miss Underwood increased the course distances for pupil. Under 9's would run 1250m and Under 11's 1500m.

Under 9 Girls were off first and it was a great start. Lacey and Phoebe finished 8th and 9th which meant they had qualified.  Next off were the boys where Jasper finished an impressive 6th to clinch his spot in the Rotherham Finals. Then it was the turn of the Under 11's. First off were the Girls. Running an age group ahead, Maddie in Year 5 manged to secure a top 10 finish and book her spot on the bus to the finals. Finally, it was the turn of the boys and Cole produced a superb run to round of the night with a solid 7th place and another seat on the bus. In total, 5 pupils out of the 20 we took (25%) qualified for the Rotherham Finals on October the 4th.

Well done to everyone who took part. You did yourself and the school proud. Look out for letters going out after half term for Miss Smiths running club.
