KS2: Swimming Gala
On the 4th of April, a team of Westbury-on-Trym swimmers gathered at the Badminton School swimming pool.
Finally, the races commenced and everyone was excited and ready. The gala started with the medley relays. Our first races were strong and very close which made us more determined for the win!
Bishop Road looked like they were going to be a tough team. For some of the Year 4’s, this was their first competitive gala in a league. Everyone’s individual times went really well with lots of children achieving personal bests. Everyone had tried to their maximum.
After all of the good, hard work, the final race was the cannon. Everyone was full of energy still as the relay started. We were off to a flying start with the boys and girls as they followed through all the way to the finish. The end result was: Westbury-on-Trym Academy’s team one and two coming first and second in the toughest race of the day.
The scores were in, the tension rose as the announcer called out Westbury-on-Trym Academy for first place. Overall, the scores were 87 to Bishop Road and 93 for Westbury. We all cheered and jumped into the pool with joy.
Thank you to Andy for coaching and taking us.
