Year 5 Cross Country County Finals

Iris, Florence and Lauren, 7 Apr 2022

On Saturday, 2nd of April, several Westbury-on-Trym runners represented the county to take part in a Level 3 Cross Country County Championship race.

Year 5 Cross Country County Finals

The first race was for our Year 5 boys from Westbury. They were James and Eli and they all started strong making 4 runners trip over each other’s feet. Eli came 17th and James came 37th.

Next, was the Year 5’s girl running race. In this race, our competitors were Florence Lauren and Iris. In this race, Iris came 2nd after an intense last leg of the race where the person who came 1st put up a good battle. Lauren came 14th and Florence came 20th.

Our next race was for the Year 6 boys. Our only competitor was Rory and he was in 7th for most of the way but then he sprinted and battled his way to earn himself 6th place.

Last, were the Year 6 girls. Our competitor’s where Elsa and Emily. Elsa stayed strong all the way through to the end and stayed 1st and Emily came 21st, which was great because all the competitors held a good position.

After all the races had finished, there was an award ceremony for the top 3 in each race and for the winning team in each race. In the year 5 girl’s race, Iris won silver and our North Bristol team came first for the Year 6 girls as Elsa won gold. North Bristol also came 2nd in the Year 6 boys and 3rd in the Year 5 boy’s race.

Well done to all of the runners, you were fantastic!
