Tag Rugby Competition
Tag Rugby Comp
On Thursday 8th March Wren's Nest took part in the first sport competition of the year. The team had used their lunch breaks to carry out training and were ready for action. The competition took place at Kinver High School and as soon as we arrived it was time to play.
All the children played phenomenally well, the first match ended 3-0 to Wren's Nest. Immediately after they played their second match with a score of 4-1. It was all down to the last match.... this time the opponents were great players. It was going to be a little more difficult. However, with determination and fantastic team work we were also able to win 3-0!
This therefore meant we not only won the league but.... smashed it! We were through to the Dudley Finals. The next round will be a lot more difficult but I know the team will do their best and do Wren's Nest proud.
During the matches referees and sport leaders were on the look out for children with good sportsmanship. This meant shaking hands at the end of the games, taking every decision made by the referee with grace, working as a team and playing with enthusiasm and smiles on their faces. Amazingly, Wren's Nest were awarded with Gold Medals!!!!
Just a little about each team member:
Jayliyah- as soon as she got on the pitch she got stuck in and supported her team. Richie- rugby can be a little complicated, Richie used his brain power to help his team to victory. Dylan- passed the balls correctly and used his aggression to pull the tags- almost pulling off a few pairs of shorts. Connor- played fiercely with great confidence. Bailey- always in the correct place at the correct time. Remiah- used his strength and determination to help his teams score their tries Maja- used her speed and logical thinking to defend and help the team. Carter- once Carter had the ball no one was going to stop him getting a try; our top scorer. Morgan- really great at defending and stopping the opposition. Brandon- great team captain, motivational and supportive.
Players of the match go to: Kelsey- for being our fearless female, always in the right place and scoring amazing tries. Kaydon G- For excellent defending, pulling lots of tags and overall lightning speed.
