Too many young people are missing out on the life-changing benefits of sport and play that would improve their health and wellbeing and equip them with the skills to thrive.
To turn this around we need like-minded schools, teachers, parents, young people and others to join together and show why PE and sport have an essential role to play in every young person’s development.
This year we are asking you to pledge your commitment to the wellbeing of all young people through PE and sport.
After you register you will receive a resource kit containing information and ideas about how to integrate wellbeing into your daily school life, as well as information to help you think about how you can showcase your activities through PR and social media.
This year’s National School Sport Week also sees us partnering with YST Ambassador and endurance athlete Ben Smith who runs the 401 Foundation. Ben’s next amazing challenge, USA 2020, will see him running marathons in all 50 states and cycling between them. He will be aiming to complete the 18,500 mile trek in 104 days – finishing during YST National School Sport Week 2020.
Registering for National School Sport Week will give you the opportunity to be among the first to hear about how your school could get involved in USA 2020, through a year-long education programme built around the five ways to wellbeing. Details of the programme and how to get involved will be unveiled at the start of the week.
The first 500 schools to submit their registration will all receive a National School Sport Week bonus pack including bunting to decorate their school. So be quick! And don’t forget to join in the conversation on Twitter #NSSW.
