South Staffordshire SGO Area

Chris Wood is the South Staffs School Games Organiser, (SGO) and the host site for School Games is Cheslyn Hay Academy. South Staffs School Games Area comprises of 47 Schools stretching across the District Council Area of South Staffordshire.

SCHOOL GAMES MISSION Keeping competitive sport at the heart of schools and provide more young people with the opportunity to compete and achieve their personal best.

SCHOOL GAMES VISION By 2020 the School Games will be continuing to make a clear and meaningful difference to the lives of even more children and young people.

Following the Publication of the adapted School Games Organiser (SGO) Work Programme. 

The SGO is required to deliver across the following five Nationally Agreed Outcomes 

1).Maintaining school engagement and supporting schools to continue to prioritise and deliver 60 Active Minutes for every child.

2). To identify and have provision that targets young people who have been most negatively impacted by COVID-19 (those particularly from low socio-economic areas, BAME, SEND etc).

3) To have a continued focus on secondary school engagement – particularly with a focus to support those young people who have just transitioned into year 7.

4). To ensure that your local offer provides opportunities for young people to take on leadership and volunteers roles.

5). To ensure Physical Activity and competition provision supports young people’s wider development including their ability to re-socialise, supports their psychological and physiological fitness

In Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent the following Activities will be delivered to support these Outcomes 

Cross Country Competition and Challenge 

Regular 60 Active Minute Challenges 

Dance 

Sportshall Athletics

Orienteering 

Football 

Netball
