Our updates
Active Recovery Hub
A new Active Recovery Hub is launching to provide schools, local authorities, and families with easy access to free resources to get children moving before, during and after the school day.
Dorset Virtual Leadership Academy
The Dorset Virtual Leadership Academy consists of a wide selection of pre-recorded workshops covering a variety of topics to provide training to young people on their leadership journey. The leadership academy offers a range of training to primary, middle, secondary and special schools and demonstrates the importance of developing young people to become the workforce of the future.
STEP INTO SPORT YOUTH LEADERSHIP
Step into Sport Youth Leadership Camps focus on the development of leadership skills in young people, with an increased emphasis on further training and deployment opportunities in workforce specific roles. There are two delivery approaches for Step into Sport this year. Please find summaries of the approaches below along with links to all the content and support material you will need. You can choose between the two or deliver both if you see the benefit. In Dorset we have a clear objective of making sure those who complete the programme have opportunities once they have completed the courses. This might be through leading in your own school, within the School Games or by linking into community clubs and volunteering. Please keep us informed when leaders have completed the training. The options are outlined below:
My Sportfolio - Keeping Active over Lockdown
As millions of young people across the country now move back to remote learning, the continuation for Physical Education and daily physical activity will be vital in supporting their wellbeing. As part of our ‘PE at Home’ learning, you can use the Sportfolio to work with your Teacher and School Games Organiser to provide your child/children with a weekly Lockdown journal to help them stay active at home. It is designed to help them achieve at least 30 minutes of activity a day, with target setting and personal challenges to complete each week.
Youth Sport Trust - After School Sport Club
The Youth Sport Trust have re-launched after school sport club. It's been created to help all young people feel part of a club while many schools are shut and youth sport is on hold. Focusing on much more than physical fitness, the club will help children develop physical literacy and the confidence to try new sports.
Dorset School Games - Skipping
