Sedgemoor SGO Area
" Hello! I'm Alex Caird and I am the new School Games Organiser for Sedgemoor and Mendip and will also be delivering the Barclays Girls Football Schools Partnership program.
I graduated university with a First Class Sport and Exercise Science degree which involved investigating the importance of developing young people rather than young performers.
Before working at SASP, I worked as a Physical and Mental Education Mentor within a primary academy network that focused on empowering pupils through sporting interventions. During this time, I developed a new PE delivery program that focused on 5 key values that a performer could reflect on both before, during and after a lesson as an equal alternative to performance-focused outcomes. This positively improved transitions between lessons, emotion regulation of students, teacher-pupil feedback opportunities and inclusivity surrounding sport participation and competition.
I love to spend my spare time coaching football at North Curry Youth FC and working to give the youth a voice in football within Somerset as part of the Somerset FA Youth Council and Inclusion Awareness Group.
Incredibly excited is an understatement - I am extremely passionate about developing young people through sport and very much look forward to working with dedicated, like-minded school sport educators from September 2022.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me by contacting me at [email protected]. "
