Activity details

The Rugby League Skills Challenge Library cards are designed for pupils with previous experience of Rugby League.

There is a set of challenges each for primary and secondary school pupils. There are 10 skills in each resource across 5 different stages of difficulty. They are based around core Rugby League skills. There are many ways to complete the challenges, for example doing all 10 challenges, choosing one from each stage, or practicing and completing them one stage at a time. There are optional scoring opportunities and the skills can be differentiated to allow all pupils to be challenged, but also to succeed.

For most of the challenges you will need a partner along with around 10m of space, 6 different coloured cones, some rugby balls and a target (e.g. bin or bucket). You can substitute items that are unavailable for any similar equipment available, including round balls or even a pair of rolled up socks!

Within school they could become part of a scheme of work, with the skills required being taught individually in lessons and building up to a ‘Skills Challenge’ event where pupils compare and compete against each other for the best score or biggest improvement.
