Join the 'Keeping Your Child Safe in Sport' Campaign

Posted 6th October 2025

This week is the CPSU and NSPCC 'Keeping Your Child Safe in Sport' campaign, an initiative that encourages parents and carers to play an active role in safeguarding children in sport.

What’s the Campaign About?

This year’s Keeping Your Child Safe in Sport Week, running from 06-12 October 2025, invites parents to consider how they can support their child’s sporting journey through positive, encouraging behaviour and by being alert to signs of harm or negative environments.

Parents and carers are encouraged to:

  • Reflect on how they support children before, during, and after sport
  • Watch campaign videos featuring children and families
  • Use downloadable question prompts to open up dialogue with their children
  • Recognise when behaviour by others may be inappropriate and know how to act

The campaign also provides a Partner Activation Pack, full of templates, social media assets, posters, and guidance for organisations to help amplify the message.

Why It Matters to the School Games Network

The School Games is committed to creating safe, inclusive, positive environments for young people to learn, play, and grow. This campaign ensures that clubs, schools, and the wider sport sector have shared tools to support children’s welfare.

By sharing campaign materials, encouraging parental engagement, and embedding these values into your local delivery, you can shape a culture where safety and wellbeing are a fundamental part of sport.

How You Can Get Involved

  1. Promote the campaign: Add the campaign to your communications calendar and share the Partner Activation Pack with your local schools, clubs, and parents.
  2. Encourage conversation: Direct parents to CPSU’s Parents’ Hub to watch videos, download conversation starters, and start meaningful discussions.
  3. Join a webinar: A webinar on building a positive parent culture in sport will take place on 09 October at 7:30pm. It will explore practical ways to foster stronger relationships between coaches, organisations, and families.

When adults act with intention, we can help ensure that every child’s sport experience is not only enjoyable but safe, supported, and empowering.
