Record-breaking year for the School Games Mark as more than 10,000 schools recognised
A record 10,226 schools across England achieved a School Games Mark in 2025/26, celebrating their commitment to PE, school sport and physical activity.
The School Games Mark has reached a new milestone, with more schools achieving an award this year than ever before. Of the 10,229 applications submitted, 10,226 schools were awarded a Mark.
The School Games Mark recognises schools that create positive opportunities for children and young people to be active, develop their skills and enjoy taking part in sport. It encourages schools to reflect on their provision, including participation, inclusion, youth voice, physical literacy, and opportunities for competition.
More than 3,000 schools achieved Platinum, the Mark's highest level, recognising five consecutive years of Gold awards and a sustained commitment to improving PE and school sport.
The North East and North West saw the strongest overall engagement, with more than half of schools in each region achieving an award.
This amazing achievement reflects the dedication of school staff, School Games Organisers, and partners working to help more young people experience the benefits of being active.

Looking ahead to 2026/27, now is a great time for schools to familiarise themselves with the new criteria and start thinking about how they can continue to develop their provision and help every child achieve their personal best.
