School Games Mark reaches 10k+ as 2026/27 Criteria launch

As we look ahead to the new academic year, the School Games Mark 2026/27 Criteria is now available, allowing schools and School Games Organisers to start planning for this year’s application.

The School Games Mark is designed to help schools reflect on their engagement with the School Games, recognise the work taking place to provide positive experiences for young people, and celebrate their commitment to physical activity and school sport.

The new Criteria provides a framework for schools to consider their provision throughout the year, alongside their work with their School Games Organiser. Schools can use the Criteria to understand what will be expected as they work towards their chosen award level.

Start planning for 2026/27

The School Games Mark is more than an end-of-year application. The Criteria is designed to support reflection and planning throughout the academic year, helping schools consider how they are developing their School Games offer and creating meaningful opportunities for young people.

Schools are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the new Criteria early in the academic year and speak to their School Games Organiser about how they can work together to support their School Games journey.

Coming this October: School Games Mark Celebration Week

The launch of the new Criteria also marks the start of a year of opportunities to recognise and celebrate the impact of the School Games.

This October, we’ll be celebrating the schools, School Games Organisers, and wider network who make the School Games happen through School Games Mark Celebration Week.
