Schools Achieve Highest School Games Mark Success Since 2018
This year, 9,539 schools have achieved a School Games Mark – the highest number of awards since 2018/19 (pre-Covid), representing a significant step forward for school sport across England.
The School Games Mark celebrates schools that go above and beyond in delivering high-quality sport and physical activity, recognising the dedication of staff, pupils, and entire school communities. This record-breaking figure demonstrates the incredible commitment schools have in inspiring young people to stay active and develop crucial skills for life.
We are immensely proud of every school that took part in this year’s programme. Congratulations to all the schools that earned an award; your hard work and dedication are driving school sport to new heights. This achievement is not just a win for schools, but for all invested in the growth and success of the School Games’ ambition of offering young people the opportunity to learn through physical activity and competition to achieve their personal best.
Looking ahead, the application window for the 2025/26 academic year will reopen on 29 April 2026. It’s the perfect time to start planning your school’s application and aiming even higher next year. Schools can access the School Games Mark 2025/26 criteria document (a School Games account is required).
Together, we are building a future where every child has access to outstanding opportunities in school sport – and this year’s results show just how far we’ve come.
