CP Sport is a National Disability Sports Organisation which supports people with cerebral palsy to be able to access and enjoy being physically active throughout their lives.

Who are Cerebral Palsy Sport?

CP Sport aims to ensure that everyone with cerebral palsy has access to physical activities. The organisation provides expert support to:

  1. Parents and support workers (encourage and ease participation)
  2. Teachers and coaches (offer guidance on adapting activities for inclusion)
  3. Sport providers (ensure activities are accessible and tailored to individual needs).

CP Sport helps to create inclusive and adaptable sporting environments for people with cerebral palsy.

What CP Sport Offers:

  • Training - online modules to raise awareness of cerebral palsy and help practitioners adapt sessions to create an inclusive environment
  • Influence - a platform to share experiences and shape a more inclusive sporting sector. The charity listens to identify and address challenges in sport and physical activity
  • Support and advice - personalised guidance is available by contacting CP Sport directly
  • Collaboration - CP Sport works with National Governing Bodies (NGBs) to provide tailored information for each sport to ensure the best possible sporting experience.

Equipment Needed

Any equipment can be adapted but some helpful items include:

  • Floor basketball net
  • Boccia balls
  • Baseball batting tee
  • Flat floor markers (so wheelchairs can roll over them)
  • Cue cards for activity instructions and general requests (e.g. drink, toilet, rest)
  • Beans bags
