Rounders

An inclusive batting and fielding team sport played between two teams (with no more than 9 players per team on the field at one time). Teams can be mixed. The aim is to score more rounders than your opponents.

What is rounders?

Rounders has a long and prolific history in PE and school sport, and has been part of School Games since its inception.

Rounders is a fully inclusive sport that can be played by all genders, abilities, and age groups. It is an opportunity to engage all young people in sport and is an ideal sport for development competitions in the School Games - plus it’s really enjoyable!

Equipment needed

  • Rounders bats (e.g. wooden, plastic, or aluminium)
  • Balls (e.g. rounders or tennis balls)
  • Cones / markers / posts
  • Outdoor field space (e.g. sport playing fields)

Get involved

The School Games is inclusive to all young people and provides opportunities for everyone to get involved, either within school, against other local schools, or at county or regional level.

School Games Organisers (SGO) help schools coordinate appropriate competitive opportunities for all young people from Key Stage 2-4, to recruit, train and deploy a suitable workforce, and to support the development of club.
