Ealing Fields Fly the Flag for GB at NFL European U15 Girls Championship
A team from Ealing Fields School have made history by winning the NFL Flag European U15 Girls Championship, representing Great Britain in a thrilling event hosted at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Ealing Fields team’s achievement is the culmination of an impressive journey through multiple stages of competition, beginning at local School Games events and ending on the international stage.
Their pathway to European glory included:
- Winning the local Ealing SGO tournament, securing their place in wider competition
- Victory in the New York Jets London Flag League
- Taking the London Regional NFL Flag Championship, earning valuable Borough points for Ealing
- Becoming NFL Flag Great Britain U15 Girls Champions, qualifying to represent the nation
- Crowning their season as European Champions, defeating top schools from across the continent.
This remarkable success is testament to the strength of the School Games network in Ealing, where the SGO team have been early adopters and strong advocates of the NFL Flag programme. Their leadership and enthusiasm have helped to grow participation locally within schools and inspired other SGOs to get involved nationally.
“We are all so proud of all the girls for winning the European Championships! They have inspired so many in our school, and are excellent role models for our younger students.”Martyn Tootell, Head of Physical Education, Ealing Fields CofE High School
Ealing Fields now has over four NFL Flag teams, with all of the young people on the teams playing the sport outside of school and on the local Fruit Bats teams.
Through the vision and commitment of Ealing’s School Games Organisers, who were among the first to introduce NFL Flag into local schools, the borough now boasts national titles across Primary Mixed, Year 7/8 Mixed, and Year 9/10 Girls categories. Their early adoption and continued support have built a thriving foundation for inclusive, team-based sport - showcasing the strength and depth of school sport in Ealing.
