Our Journey Towards Platinum

Mr Brooks, 5 Jan 2020

In July 2019, we were delighted to find out that we have been awarded the School Games Platinum Mark Award. Since 2012, PE & sport has been transformed and has been recognised as we have achieved the Bronze, Silver and Gold Mark Awards. In order to achieve the Platinum Mark Award, we have had to achieve the Gold Mark standard for five years, demonstrating our commitment to physical activity and competitive school sport. This has been evident in the range of after-school clubs we offer, to the number of competitions we take part in each year, through to our commitment to ensure that every child has represented the school at a competition by the time they leave in Y6.

Our Journey Towards Platinum

From our active play leaders who work with children across the school at lunchtime, to our sports leaders who help organise and deliver competitions, this has been a fantastic team effort and is the result of many years of hard work by current and past pupils, as well as clubs and organisations that we work closely with.

A huge thank you to all those children, parents and staff involved in PE and sport over the years who have helped in our journey towards achieving the Platinum Award.

Here is the case study we submitted in support of our application.

Bidston Avenue Primary School

Bidston Avenue is a primary school for 4-11 year olds, in Claughton, Birkenhead. We have a love for PE & sport, running through the school. This has been recognised in recent years as we have achieved the School Games Gold Mark each year since 2014-15 and in July 2019 were awarded the Platinum School Games Mark Award.
