Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds Pause Week

Mrs Rae, 13 Nov 2020

October 19th-23rd was a Pause Week focussed around the theme, "Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds". Children engaged in many different activities from daily activity to mindfulness in order to understand how to keep both their minds and bodies healthy in these difficult times.

Normal lessons were put on hold as we fully immersed ourselves in the theme of this week.  Children learnt how to keep their minds healthy by completing different mindfulness challenges, including art projects to create whole school displays in our corridors and engaging in P4C discussions to explore different aspects of mental well-being.

They also learnt how to keep their bodies healthy, through science lessons around the benefits of healthy eating, and different ways of eating healthily.   Each day, the children took part in one of the SGOs Autumn term virtual competitions.  They competed in class bubbles in their houses, with certificates being awarded for the top competitors in each house.  The results were then collated across the year groups, with the top 5 boys and girls each year group being entered into the Portsmouth School Games competition.

Children thoroughly enjoyed this Pause Week and learnt a lot about their own health and well-being.
