Girls Danone Cup Final

Mr Ellis, 18 Dec 2019

We took part in the Final of the Girls Danone Cup Final.

On a wintery night at Droyslden Juniors the top 3 girls teams from around Tameside: us, Moorside and Oasis Broadoak came together to play to be Tameside Danone Champions and qualify for the regional competition.

We were playing 2 games against each side and started off with a game against Oasis Broadoak. It was a close encounter but Broadoak scored first with a long range goal and despite some good attempts to get forward Greenside could not find the equaliser they needed and ended up losing 1-0.

In the second game we played Moorside and both sides played with lots of skill and technique but neither side could find a goal and it finished 0-0.

After a short break while we waited for the floodlights to come on we kept warm and got ready for our next game.

We then played Oasis Broadoak again, needing a win to maintain our

chances of winning the tournament. Luckily for us we got one, as great work from EC set up DO for what turned out to be the winning goal.

We needed to win our last game against Moorside to qualify but, despite our best efforts we could not find the winning goal, meaning Moorside were champions and we finished 2nd overall.

Player of the match was DS for some solid defending through
