Sportshall Athletics

We went to Sportshall Athletics

On Tuesday 21st January we took 21 children to Denton Community College to compete in one of the most competitive heats of the year, Sportshall Athletics.

We were up against 5 other schools and only one could ensure that they could get a place in the final taking place the week after.

We started with the field events, with children competing in chest push, foam javelin, vertical jump, long jump, triple jump and speed bounce.

All of our athletes did really well, especially those who hadn’t had time to practice the events and we were in 2nd place just behind St Mary’s.

The races were up next and Greenside got off to a great start, winning the first one. We followed this up with even more

race wins, and in the ones we didn’t win we never finished lower than third.

It was a nervous wait for the scores but we just missed out on the final, finishing 2nd out of the 6 teams there.

Player of the match was Courtney, who tried her best and raced really hard for the team despite being a last minute replacement.
